Newly developed special annealing magnetic circuit


It goes without saying that a high-performance MC cartridge requires an excellent vibration system. Excellent performance is required from each element such as the cantilever, coil, damper, and highly rigid body, but the magnetic circuit that makes up the cartridge is also an extremely important element. The output signal of the cartridge is generated by the movement of the vibration system within the magnetic circuit. The coil vibrates within the magnetic flux produced by the magnet, generating electricity.


Good output cannot be obtained unless the magnetic flux is high density and stable. The magnetic circuit of the Dynavector cartridge uses pure iron. Pure iron has high magnetic permeability and maintains magnetic flux at a high density, and its stability is particularly excellent, making it the optimal material for obtaining distortion-free output. However, when processed and formed into parts, the crystal structure is distorted at the atomic level due to plastic deformation, resulting in a significant loss of magnetic permeability.


To regenerate a distorted crystal structure, so-called annealing is performed. The process of restoring magnetic permeability by heating and cooling processed and formed parts is called magnetic annealing, but general-purpose magnetic annealing cannot completely remove distortions in the crystal structure and does not completely restore magnetic permeability. plug. The conditions for magnetic annealing vary depending on the material, size, shape, etc. of the part.


In developing the new cartridge, we focused on optimizing magnetic annealing, including the annealing temperature, annealing environment, heating time, heating rate, and cooling rate, and succeeded in bringing out the excellent magnetic performance unique to pure iron. Thanks to the new ideal magnetic circuit, excellent resolution without distortion, smooth wide-range expression, spaciousness of the sound field, and sound quality have all been dramatically improved. ■Magnetic circuit design using alnico magnets

The magnet uses an expensive alnico magnet with low magnetic resistance. Alnico magnets have extremely low magnetic resistance compared to the current mainstream high-energy rare earth magnets such as samarium cobalt magnets and neodymium boron magnets, and because there is less fluctuation in magnetic force during record playback, the S/N is high and the start-up is slow. It is characterized by good sound. The winding coil wound around the front yoke is a patented flux damper technology that stabilizes the magnetic flux within the air gap, and has the same structure as the higher-end model.


■Highly rigid magnetic circuit

The front yoke and rear yoke are fixed together with magnets using stainless steel bolts, creating a highly rigid magnetic circuit configuration. The assembly is completely handmade by skilled engineers, and each product is produced through a meticulous assembly process, including adjusting the tightening torque, which greatly affects sound quality.


■Low output type MC cartridge

The output voltage of 0.28mV is a standard level for an MC cartridge, and is compatible with general head amplifiers and step-up transformers in addition to the step-up transformer SUP-200. The recommended load impedance is 30Ω or more, and it is compatible with various load settings including 47kΩ (phono equalizer input).
