Shinichi Ikugata is highly regarded as a Japanese guitarist and songwriter. He began his career in 1998 as guitarist for Ellegarden and has released five albums, several EPs and maxi singles. After Ellegarden went on hiatus in 2008, Ikugata formed Nothing's Carved In Stone, which has released 11 albums to date. Ellegarden reunited in 2018, released their 6th album in 2022, and are continuing their activities.
In 2017, Mr. Ibukata and Gibson released their first signature model, the Shinichi Ubukata ES-355, which sold out immediately. The newly released "Epiphone Shinichi Ubukata ES-355 ver.02" features a Kalamazoo headstock and stylish diamond inlay, as well as diamond-shaped F-holes with binding, Grover Rotomatic tuners, and Gibson 57 Classic pickups. The specifications of Gibson's signature model, such as the Bigsby B70 vibrato, baritone switch, and "skull" logo on the back of the headstock, have been inherited, and this time, under the supervision of Mr. Ikugata, new color variations have been added. It is available in a total of 5 colors, including the previous Ebony, Sixties Cherry, Classic White, Olive Drab, and Pelham Blue. Also included is an Epiphone hardshell case with Ikugata's iconic "skull" logo.
