Description

★Pursuing even higher levels of analog record playback. The next generation standard model of the Technics direct drive turntable that has evolved to a different dimension and is leading a new era.

●New motor drive technology “ΔΣ (Delta Sigma)-Drive” that achieves high rotational precision and low vibration Direct drive turntable heralding the arrival of a new era

Since the SP-10, which was the world's first to be equipped with a direct drive in 1970, the direct drive system has continued to evolve in pursuit of the ideal analog record playback.

For more than half a century, we have continued to produce models equipped with the latest technology of each era.

Now, we have continued to evolve and have developed a new generation motor drive technology, ``ΔΣ-Drive'', which reduces motor rotational irregularities and minute vibrations that cannot be measured by wow/flutter or S/N ratio.

The SL-1200G R2 brings together the low-noise power supply technology cultivated by Technicians to create a new world of sound.

We have achieved an evolution that no one else can follow, and we hereby declare the arrival of a new era.

● Improved rotational accuracy and reduced platter vibration using new motor drive technology “ΔΣ-Drive”

In order to eliminate the rotational unevenness known as "cogging" of the direct drive system, we have adopted a single rotor type coreless direct drive motor that eliminates the core from the coil and achieves stable rotation. For the motor drive system, we developed a new motor drive technology, ``ΔΣ-Drive,'' in pursuit of improving the sound quality of analog record playback from a different perspective. Focusing on the fact that motor control is performed using the same PWM control as digital amplifiers, we incorporated the ΔΣ conversion technology cultivated through the development of Technics' fully digital amplifiers. ΔΣ conversion suppresses conversion errors, and high-precision PWM generation technology provides an output signal with lower distortion, reducing harmonic distortion that causes slight fluctuations in motor rotation speed and vibration. By suppressing even the slightest vibrations of the motor that cannot be measured with conventional wow/flutter or S/N ratios, we have achieved more precise and stable rotation.

●Low noise switching power supply that brings together the know-how of Technics full digital amplifiers

At Technics, we have been researching low noise switching power supplies for many years. The advantages of switching power supplies include stable supply capacity due to high-speed charging and discharging, and low ripple and hum noise. Furthermore, since turntables do not have huge transformers that operate with large currents at commercial frequencies, they are advantageous against mechanical vibrations. On the other hand, the noise emitted by switching power supplies is reduced by combining the know-how that Technics has cultivated through the development of fully digital amplifiers and by adopting a more superior power supply method and by raising the switching frequency higher than the audible band. We are trying to

●Equipped with noise removal circuit equivalent to SL-1000R. "Current Injection Active Noise Canceling"

In order to further reduce the noise generated in the power supply circuit, we have installed a noise cancellation circuit "Current Injection Active Noise Cancelling", which is the same as the one used in the reference class SL-1000R, after the switching power supply. It consists of a noise extractor and a transistor, and the detected noise is extracted and the transistor cancels the noise by injecting a current with the opposite phase. By combining a low-noise switching power supply and a noise removal circuit, we have created a power supply circuit that is ideal for turntables, achieving both high current supply capability and low noise.

●Two-layer platter with high vibration damping characteristics

The platter on which the record is placed has a two-layer structure: an aluminum die-cast part equipped with reinforced ribs optimized through detailed simulation, and deadening rubber bonded to the entire back surface to suppress unnecessary resonance. Achieves high vibration damping characteristics.

- Highly rigid chassis with a two-layer structure made of aluminum die-casting and BMC Technics traditional static balance S-shaped tone arm

The product's casing uses a two-layer structure that firmly integrates a BMC (bulk molding compound) chassis and an aluminum die-cast chassis to ensure high rigidity. The tone arm, which is important for highly accurate reading of music information engraved on records, inherits Technics' traditional static balance type. The material for the tone arm pipe is aluminum, which is lightweight and has excellent rigidity. The tone arm bearing part of the gimbal suspension structure uses a high-precision bearing using a machined housing. Assembled and adjusted by skilled craftsmen.

●High-quality design that follows higher-end models. Comfortable operation with Technics traditional layout

The design follows the traditional layout of the SL-1200 series and is available in two colors: silver and black. Inheriting the design of the higher-end model and finishing it with even higher quality. The arrangement of the tone arm and various operation buttons follows the same layout as before, so you can operate it comfortably with the same feeling. In addition, this is the first Technics turntable to use environmentally friendly packaging materials in order to reduce the environmental impact on marine plastic issues and other issues. We use cardboard as the cushioning material to reduce the amount of plastic used in packaging.
