◆Overview

Tranquility and freedom created by tradition and skill

The beautiful and durable lacquer coating technique not only has the value of a craft material, but also serves as an industrial raw material that can withstand today's strict standards.

The effect of lacquer on acoustic products such as musical instruments has also been recognized, with experimental reports showing that the peak of sound pressure shifts to the higher frequency side when a lacquer film is formed on musical instruments, and when applied to the surface of audio equipment such as speakers. There are many reports that the sound quality has been improved.

``Kurorin URUSHI'' is an analog turntable sheet manufactured with high precision by taking advantage of the characteristics of this traditional industrial raw material.

A skilled craftsman hand-paints the carefully selected laminated wood with lacquer, ensuring a high level of flatness and creating an affinity with analog records.

The refined sound of ``Kurorin URUSHI'' combines a rich amount of information with tranquility. Please enjoy record performance that cannot be experienced with other materials.

◆About lacquer

The main component of lacquer is an organic compound called urushiol, and when applied to a surface such as wood, it polymerizes at room temperature through an enzymatic reaction to form a coating, so no heat treatment or organic solvents are required.

Even now in the 21st century, the final structure of the coating film has not been elucidated, but its unique properties such as beauty, durability, and heat retention are attracting attention from various quarters.

Lacquer has high insulating properties and is effective as a countermeasure against static electricity, making it the perfect natural material for analog records.

◆About the production process

By completing lacquerware through multiple coating processes, including a base coat, intermediate coat, and top coat, the living lacquer can maintain its beauty for a long time.

In order to bring out the resonance of the lacquer, the inside of the hole through which the turntable's rotating shaft passes is coated with lacquer.

The work of applying lacquer so that the coating is uniform while keeping in mind the finish of the lacquer after drying is especially important when applying lacquer to ``Kakumono/Itamono'' vessels such as high-quality jubako and tosodai. This requires the advanced skills and experience of a limited number of skilled craftsmen, as well as an environment with suitable humidity and temperature.

When manufacturing Kurorin U RUSHI, we pay the most attention to this point and focus on ensuring the flatness required for turntable sheets.
